2008 Art Poster Contest

Deadline has passed for 2008

The Gilroy Garlic Festival Association is pleased to announce that entries are now being accepted for the 2008 Art Poster Contest. Note the early deadline, Friday, February 29, 2008, which allows the retail committee time for ordering specialty items imprinted with the winning poster.

The winning entry will be the one which is judged to best capture the spirit and essence of this premier food festival. Keep in mind that the art poster is most often displayed in kitchens or dining rooms.

Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. First Place will be awarded $750; Second Place $400; and Third Place $200. In addition, the First Place winner shall receive ten posters and one of each souvenir item produced with their artwork. The winning entry will be reproduced as a high quality, limited edition poster to be sold at the 30th Annual Gilroy Garlic Festival and the winning artist is requested to appear on two days of the festival to autograph posters.

Artists will be notified of the contest results by March 28, 2008. Additionally, poster submissions (excluding the First Place winner) will be selected to compete in our "People's Choice Award" competition. The posters will be displayed at our park side Garlic Mercantile during the three days of the festival. Festival attendees will have an opportunity to vote on which of the entries they feel is the best. The "People's Choice Award" will go to the entry receiving the most votes and will win a $200 cash award. We look forward to the pleasure of seeing your work.
